Laboratorio de Lingüística Informática
The Sylvia project had the objective of developing a natural language database query system. The project had a multilingual character (English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian), and ultimately a commercial product, LanguageAccess, was placed on the m arket. The Spanish role in the project consisted of developing grammars for analysis and generation, as well as a dictionary and conceptual models for interpreting certain linguistic subdomains. The work was carried out in the Madrid IBM Scientific Cente r, with continuing support from the IBM Nordic Laboratory in Lidingo, Sweden. The two Spanish investigators participating were subcontracted through an agreement with the Linguistics Department of UAM, and the chief investigator was Prof. F. Marcos Marin. The following investigators also participated: Antonio Moreno, Cristina Olmeda, Josefa Martinez, and Silvia Guilarte.
